Dave Caird is the owner, founder, and passionate wine expert behind Opus Cru. With a wealth of experience and an unparalleled dedication to the world of wine, Dave brings a unique blend of knowledge and enthusiasm to every aspect of Opus Cru. 

His vision is to share his love for wine while breaking down the barriers and pretentiousness that can often be associated with the industry.

Dave’s credentials include:

• Attended the "Introduction to Masters of Wine" Course, Germany 2023
• Graduated from the WSET Diploma, 2022
• Certified in WSET Levels 1, 2, and 3, and WSET 2 Spirits Certified
• Over 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry
• Certified Sommelier, Court of Master Sommeliers
• Regularly travels to wine regions worldwide
• Expert in the art and science of Cooperage
• Worked the 2022 harvest at La Frenz Winery (Canada's #1 small winery) in Naramata Bench, Okanagan
• Board member of the National Capital Sommelier Guild
• Experience as a local winemaker and vineyard manager
• Frequently invited to serve as a judge at wine events
• Taught wine appreciation courses in China, with endorsement from Algonquin College
